Mark Bittlestone claims he is the only gay comic in the world. Which in his neck of woods in the UK is known as a ‘porky pie’. He is however part of a new wave of younger comedians who are really making waves around the globe.
QUEERGURU caught up with him as he was preparing to make tracks for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe where he is performing his brand new show I NEED A STRAIGHT MAN. The title is a trope for every gay man at sometime in their life . He is not only hilariously funny with a very infectious sense of humor but he is also discerningly charming : if anyone can net themselves one of Scotlands finest, it will be him.
The annual TENNESSEE WILLIAMS THEATER FESTIVAL is one of THE cultural highlights of PROVINCETOWN’s year. This celebration of the work of this legendary American writer honors the fact he spent 4 summers here in the 1940’s and created some of his finest work here. During this time he fell in love with a young man named KIp , and some 40 years later he wrote about it in SOMETHING CLOUDY SOMETHING CLEAR.
This is part of the 2024 program ,and so Queerguru caught up with actor Luke Philip Bosco who has been cast to play the part of Kip. He has also been cast in one of William’s most well known plays THE GLASS MENAGARIE that will also playing in repertoire in this years Festival.
This is also proving to be a red-letter year for Luke as his second movie JANET PLANET is just about to be released ….so we had a lot to talk about.

DARBY AND THE DEAD, directed by SILAS HOWARD, is an LGBTQ+ historic landmark as one of the first (and likely the first) studio-made films directed by an out trans masculine LGBTQ+ filmmaker. It is about to be screened in the new LTBTQIA+ film series QUEER RHAPSODY taking place in multiple city-wide venues in Los Angeles July 19 – 28, 2024. Important for its inclusivity both in front of and behind the camera,
DARBY is a sly LGBTQ+ allegory of outsiders struggling to fit in, and finding unlikely friendships amid the universal challenges of joys of finding belonging. After the (temporary?) demise of OUTFEST, Queer Rhapsody was motivated by a need to ‘create art spaces for communal engagement for queer identities under fire’,” said series organizer May Hong HaDuong, director of the UCLA Film and Television Archive. Silas talked abut this and his most impressive resume of queer movies and TV series with QUEERGURU ….. even touching on his latest work, directing some episodes for a brand new queer TV series for Netflix
Queerguru caught up with Boston based Lisa who has been making music with Mike for years, the last two of which they had an extremely successful regular Monday Night gig at the now defunct The Club in PTown. She explained that she will be the R + B part of the Town Hall Show
