Brit actor/writer Dan Ireland-Reeves brings his award winning (very steamy) semi-autobiographical drama SAUNA BOY to PTown

The Brit award-winning queer writer/actor DAN IRELAND-REEVES mines his own (seemingly racy) life to create semi-autobiographical dramas that we think may be too raunchy to be true. On the eve of bringing his latest play SAUNA BOY to Provincetown (and yes the title says it all) he told QUEERGURU that it was all based on him working in a Sauna for a year : and this is his whole story. Sex and all. Although maybe edited a tad . The cherry on top of it all (if we dare say) is that Dan has a very infectious English sense of humor which Queerguru Ed added is an essential part of having sex. LOL

US Promoter Adam Weinstock (who may or may not have met Dan in a Sauna) is producing the Show for 3 nights at the Gifford House, Provincetown during Mates Leather Weekend on 10/04-10/06

Peter Parker talks about SOME MEN IN LONDON his compelling two volume anthology of queer history

Posted on Categories queerguru.tvLabels , , , ,

PETER PARKER is a queer British biographer, historian, journalist and editor with quite a prolific output that includes the definitive biography of Christopher Isherwood.

He has just completed a 6 year project of SOME MEN IN LONDON a two volume anthology of the history of the reality of gay men in London from 1939 right up to 1967. Parker’s book makes for such compelling reading as its not just about the celebrity and aristocratic gay men who lived at a time when homosexuality was illegal and been exposed as gay could ruin and even end lives,  but also those working class men who had survived two World Wars .

Prior to an Event sponsored by Gays The Word at The BRITISH LIBRARY with writer Neil Bartlett,  Parker sat down with QUEERGURU Editor to discuss, amongst other things, the importance of sharing the LGBTQ+ community’s history with millennials and other gay men who have never personally lived in a period when homosexuality was still illegal. Our history is what defines us and helps share who we are and who we can/will be.

Tim McArthur talks to Queerguru about his semi-biographical play SMALL TOWN BOY on the eve of its premiere in London’s Union Theatre

Posted on Categories queerguru.tvLabels , , , , , ,

Brit TIM McARTHUR is something of a modern renaissance man : when it comes to the theatre there is very little he hasn’t done . He has just finished a smash run this summer as Sister Mary Playtime in Provincetown, and is now back home in London rehearsing his new play SMALL TOWN BOY.  It’s plot is based on a remarkable true story which totally fascinated us.

It all happened one summer in New York just a couple of years ago when Tim was introduced to another Brit gay man who happened to have grown up in a small town in the North of England, just a few miles from Tim’s home town. When chatting further they discovered totally unknown to each other they had actually both dated the same man at the same time . Its the stuff that (gay) dreams are made so we HAD to know more so we tracked him down to the Union Theatre in London on the eve of the play’s premiere …..

The Annual (stunning) White Party , Provincetown seen through the eyes of @itstherabbit

Provincetown’s White Party celebrated its 36th Anniversary this Labor Day Weekend.  What started out as one of the very best parties of the Season (which it still is) has now also become a major fundraiser for Outer Cape Heath Services . Last year alone the money raised was $165,000 ….bringing the running total to over $500,000.

This year Queerguru was lucky to get its hands on a video of the event filmed by @itstherabbit a local resident who is also co-owner of The Gaythering : the very best queer hotel in Miami Beach.  However he did make us promise not to wear white again until next year….
