Effie Brown, Powerhouse Producer and Mentor of HBO’s Project Greenlight, was the Guest Speaker at the Evan Lawson Filmmakers brunch at #PIFF16 in June. Before she elucidated to the assembled crowd on ‘diversity in film’, she stopped by to talk to queerguru aka Roger Walker-Dack about her work in an hilarious interview that she thought would never ever see the light of day. Life Animated, the award winning documentary, is unquestionably one of the most inspirational movies of the year. Directed by Roger Ross Williams, it tracks how the extraordinary Suskind family came together and helped Owen evolve into an amazing independent young man.
The interview ranged from her love for the Broadway stage to her latest starring role in the Terrence Davies movie ‘A Quiet Passion’ for which she won rave reviews when it premiered in the Berlinale earlier this year, and which will open in the U.S. in the Fall.
