#PaulBradshaw is a gay man BUT many of the men he dates turn out to be straight! Now he has turned all these hilarious (and sometimes sad ) experiences into a very funny stage drama. It was a smash hit when it played at King’s Head Theatre (we were there to review it) it even got nominated for an OFFIE . Now he’s back joined by his original cast & director George GreenlandStephanie Levi John & Imogen Frances and Tell Me Straight is having a new run at Chiswick Playhouse .….. and he talked with QUEERGURU about it all
When you read a resume like PAUL BURSTON‘s you feel (a) totally exhausted and (b) that you really should achieve more with your own life! He’s a journalist, author, activist, one-time editor, and founder and host of POLARI the LGBTQ+ literary salon. Before we started talking to him we knew a little about his life as he had been one of the participants of Alexis Gregory‘s stunning verbatim piece Riot Act. We are still a little unsure why we had not tied him down for an interview, particularly as he is very much a significant figure in the UK”s queer community …….. and in fact in 2016, he featured in the British Council’s Global List of ‘33 visionary people promoting freedom, equality and LGBT rights around the world.. So when his memoir We Can Be Heroes was recently published it seemed the perfect time to catch up with this fascinating charming man of letters
On the eve of the premiere of Brit queer writer Paul Harvard’s debut play GHBoy opening in London’s Charing Cross Theatre, he talked with QUEERGURU . The play explores gay culture, promiscuity, and the misconceptions that go along with this, and is inspired in part by the murders committed by Stephen Port, as well as Paul’s personal experiences of parties in his youth.
Paul Rice a queer Irish creative director forsook his comfortable life in SF to take a journey on the Trans-Siberian Railway across Russia to see for himself what life is really like for the LGBTQ Community He even talked his Welsh bf Liam Jackson Montgomery into joining him.
The result is his very first feature film, a powerful documentary A Worm in the Heart that is about to have its World Premiere next week at Santa Barbara International Film Festival and so QUEERGURU caught up him for an exclusive interview in advance of the Event.
