From Eytan Fox the Director of ‘Yossi and Jaegar’ comes a story of a Mossad Agent who is ordered to track and down and kill one of the last remaining Nazi war criminals before he can die a natural death. To find his man, he is expected to act as a Tour Guide and befriend the German’s gay grandson when he comes to Israel, which is tough going for such an homophobic zealot.
Israeli actor Lior Ashkenazi (who bears more than a striking resemblance to Clive Owens) plays Eyal the moody Special Agent who asks to be removed from the case when he discovers Axel’s sexuality, but when they re-visit Germany together both men also reconsider their erotic allegiances as well as their political ones too.
A subtle slow unravelling thriller that really creeps up on you and is a really enjoyable wee film even though its implausible ending made it less than perfect.
