Ryan Murphy the uber gay producer behind such TV shows as Glee and American Horror Story has been facing a great deal of criticism for the documentary he made on The Menendez Brothers who had murdered their parents . Hopefully his next project will help us lose that nasty taste in our mouths seeing him almost idolize these killers.
Murphy has announced that he is developing MID-CENTURY MODERN which be a gay take on the cult TV show THE GOLDEN GIRLS. He is working with Will & Grace’s Max Mutchnick and David Kohan on thie new series which will focus on gay men after mid-life. Or rather ‘gay gentlemen of a certain age’ who, after an unexpected death, decide to spend their golden years living together in Palm Springs where the wealthiest one lives with his mother and a naked Gen Z housekeeper.
The ‘wealthy one’ is Bunny ,a character inspired by Dorothy and played by multi-award winner Nathan Lane, whilst his mother Sybil will be Tony Award winner Linda Lavin known for playing the title character in the sitcom Alice . And then there is Jerry a ‘ditzy’ character akin to The Golden Girls‘ Rose played by Matt Bomer fresh from the hit Showtime miniseries Fellow Travelers. Jerry left the Mormon Church and his marriage in his early 20s after his wife informed him and the rest of the congregation that he was a homosexual. Now a latter-day saint in the literal sense of the term
Mid Century Modern is being produced by HULU TV
