Queer Brit writer/director Bryon Fear is revisiting VAMPIR which he first produced in 1994 for the South London Theatre. Its a physical theatre dance piece that explores the vampire myth as an allegory for homophobia.
A creature invented in folklore, given credence by religion and celebrated in the arts, emerges from the twisted shadows of a world struck with a fear as primal and as ancient as the myth itself. Vampir explores the enduring appeal of the vampire and the true meaning of monster.

Also dating back to 1994 was director Neil Jordan’s star studded Oscar-nominated movie “Interview with a Vampire”. Now AMC has revisited this and in a new TV series has given more credit to the author as in Anne Rice’s Interview With the Vampire. Seeing the new trailer was a very pleasant surprise as this time it is not shying away from the inherent queerness of the story!
In this production, Interview With the Vampire is actually a twisted love story between our main character, Louis, and Lestat, the vampire who seduced him into becoming a vampire himself.
“The year was 1910, my business was desire,” Louis tells the reporter he’s recounting his wild life to in the beginning of the trailer. We then see Lestat start to throw glances Louis’ way, watching him have sex, and touching him. “Let the tale seduce you, just as I was seduced,” he says.
“He was my murderer, my mentor, my lover, and my maker,” Louis says of Lestat. “It was as if I could finally receive the secrets of existence.”
Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire debuts on AMC on Sunday, October 2 at 10pm ET/9c. The first
two episodes will also be available to stream on AMC+ that same night.
