If you live in P Town the hottest ticket is not Broadway’s Hamilton with it’s 16 Tony Nominations (Been there Done that) but a sneak preview of Thirsty a post-queer musical feature film on the life of one of the Towns legendary entertainers who is considered local royalty in these parts. This fascinating true story of Scott Townsend aka Thirsty Burlington who is more Cher than Cher herself was quietly slipped into the Provincetown Film Festival Schedule at the very last moment with barely a single announcement, yet it managed to sell out completely in 5 hours breaking all box-office records.
There is good news as the peeps at the Festival had the sense to quickly re-arrange things, and yesterday very quietly announced a second screening. You can get all the details here http://www.ptownfilmfest.org/ .Be quick though as there is a very good chance that it may have already sold out already
queerguru is very lucky because not only do we have tickets for the show …..we know how to move fast (!) ….. but we are also going to sit down with Thirsty for a one-on-one interview for PTV very soon to turn back time and talk about one of the most highly anticipated movies of the summer. This will not only be broadcast on the channel, but will be posted here on this site too. Watch this space.
Meanwhile, here is a sneak preview of the sneak preview :
