Taking a decko at Dekko

xferiado81

This week we have been taking a decko at a much needed brand new LGBT movie streaming service called Dekko.  The really good news is that this is a global service and has been launched with some 266 movies (compared with Netflix’s 120 LGBT movies and Amazon Prime’s 134).  Dekko is backed by TLA Releasing who over the past 15 year have established themselves as one of world’s biggest distributors of LGBT films.

Dekko will operate as a subscription service charging $12.99 per month which gives unlimited access to all their movies which can viewed on a PC, Mac, mobile device, tablet or Roku and on  AppleTV or by Dekko’s iOS and Android apps.

So far we are very impressed as the movies on offer include brand new releases such as Holiday, Mexican Men and Aya Arcos and some firm favorites that are always worth re-watching such as Hawaii and In Bloom , and classics which had dropped off everyone else’s lists like Fairytale of Kathmandu and Fur Coat & No Knickers.  The really good news is that TLA own one of the most comprehensive and best libraries of LGBT entertainment, and the only questionable aspect is the fact that dekko will include only their content and not gay movies from other distributors, so we hope they have enough future releases to keep the service fresh.  queerguru is nevertheless putting its money and has already signed up on the dotted line.

Other LGBT streaming services we use and are very happy to endorse include:

Wolfe On Demand  one of the very oldest LGBT movie distributors whose global service rents per movie per viewing from $3.99 to $4.99 each.  Our favorites in their extensive content include How To Win At Checkers (Every Time), Margarita With A Straw, Boy Meets Girl, and Getting Go : The Go Doc Project.

Peccadillo Pics : a UK LGBT distributor who have a small but select offering of some 40 + movies but they do include certain gems that are not available elsewhere yet like  Dressed As a Girl and ChemSex which rent for $2.99 (about $4).

These services need to be supported as that will encourage to get bigger and give an even better service to our community. queerguru is so sick of trying to spend our hard earned cash with people like iTunes who do not even recognize LGBT as a genre when you search their movie content!
