This October The Other Side of Silence (“TOSOS”), one of New York’s oldest LGBTQIA+ theater companies, has revived Doric Wilson’s Street Theater. A satire set in the hours leading up to the historic Stonewall riots, Street Theater is an entertaining tale that will give you all the feels as it teleports you back to Christopher Street and gives you a glimpse into the lives of those who called it home.
Sit back and take in these talented actors as they tell the story of Stonewall in a relatable and uniquely comedic way. Each group of characters showcase a different perspective as we follow a series of intertwined storylines that manage to tell a tale of friendship, community, corruption, and oppression before ending on a note of bravery and the spark that ignited a movement.
There is no doubt that this revival would make Wilson proud as both the playwright of this story and co-founder of TOSOS, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. The legacy of this historic moment lives on through his work!
Tickets are available at www.tososnyc.org, but move quickly as seats are limited and this run wraps up on October 22nd.
