Once Upon A Time in a Land Far Far Away there lived a very handsome charming young Prince called Leo (but let’s face it, are they ever ugly?). He however had no intention of climbing towers to rescue young maidens or even chase after pretty virgins who ran off from the Ball leaving one of their Manolo Blahniks behind. He had already found the love of his life when he was hanging around in the forest one night (!) in the shape of a farm lad called Jack.
Trouble is the Queen’s new evil husband also wants to get his hands on Jack ….(No,not like that!) ….just so that he can control the part of the Enchanted Forest Jack’s family look after. Now this new fairy tale called Promised Land COULD have a very happy ending but it’s authors Chaz Harris and Adam Reynolds of Wellington, New Zealand need the final bit of help through their Kickstarter Campaign to make this book a reality first.
‘Promised Land’ hopes to be part of a new generation of children’s book inclusive of LGBTI stories, and Harris says he hopes the book will help confront issues of depression and suicidal thinking, which disproportionally affects young LGBTI people. ‘For me personally, I got severely bullied at school, and I wonder if a story like this was around back then, if some of those children would have grown up a little more aware and accepting of others.’
The authors are aiming to publish the book on 11 October 2016 (recognized internationally as ‘National Coming Out Day’).
