It’s been seven years since fashion guru Tom Ford’s movie directing debut A Single Man picked up numerous awards but Ford was studiously ignored by the Academy of Motion Pictures. If the old Hollywood guard failed to take his first movie seriously, they can hardly do the same with Ford’s sophomore film that just premiered at Venice Film Festival and received rave reviews and a Silver Lion as a Grand Jury Prize.
Ford has gathered a star-studded cast that includes Amy Adams, Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Shannon, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Isla Fisher, Laura Linney, Michael Sheen, Andrea Riseborough, and Arnie Hammer. The story based on Austin Wright’s novel ‘Tony & Susan is about an art gallery owner is haunted by her ex-husband’s novel, a violent thriller she interprets as a veiled threat and a symbolic revenge tale.
