Take a close look at this picture. This is of course Darryl Hannah in her breakthrough role as the Mermaid in the 1984 film Splash in which she co-starred alongside Tom Hanks. But soon this image of Darryl may disappear from your mind only to be swapped with that of her replacement in the remake of the movie that Disney has just announced. It however the role will not be played by another voluptuous blonde but by Magic Mike himself, Mr Channing Tatum which is a real turn up for the books. To complete the genderswap, Jillian Bell will play the character originally played by Tom Hanks.

It is the fact that the script will be written by Marja-Lewis Ryan who, amongst other projects, wrote and starred in the movie Four Faced Liar for which she won the Roger Walker-Dack Award for Emerging Talent in Queer Cinema.
