Nude Models become Living Art

Aga-Wi

Now that summer is here in N.Y. people took to stripping off in Manhattan’s Dag Hammarskjold Plaza, outside the United Nations headquarters yesterday to put some color into their cheeks.  Both sets that is. However they were not there to get a suntan, but to be used as canvases in the third annual Body Painting Day.

About 100 models were there for the event which celebrates freedom of artistic expression and boy acceptance much to the amusement of some rather startled onlookers.  After a few hours of painting, the highly colored naked models boarded a double-decker bus to tour the city with their very different live art show.

The event was created by artist Andy Golub, who  yesterday painted bodybuilder Vanessa Adams, and he and the other artists were creating art inspired by the models’ “inner beauty,” the theme for this year’s event.  There are also Bodypainting Days in Amsterdam, and soon Brussels will also get to daub naked bodies in their streets too.
