The folks over at The CW Network have been working on a new series called Riverdale which is a teen drama television project based on the characters by Archie Comics to coincide with the Archie character’s 75th anniversary.
Thank goodness they are sticking to the teen theme and not casting some 75 year old, and Greg Berlanti the Producer promises ‘a subversive take on Archie, Betty, Veronica, and their friends, exploring the surrealism of small town life – the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome facade’.
When they cast New Zealand actor K J Apa for the part of Archie, he looked like this.
But recently he was spotted in Vancouver where they are filming the series and now he looks like this.
Admit it, that suddenly made you perk up and get more interested eh? According to the writers ‘Archie is grappling with heavy issues and juggling the interest of several girls while discovering his passion for writing and performing music against his father and his football coach’s better wishes. Oh, and he’s harboring more than one dark, terrible secret.’ We wonder what they can possible be!
Also in the cast is newcomer Casey Cott playing Kevin Keller, the first openly gay character in the Archie universe, who was introduced in the comic-book series in 2010.
And looking really grown up these days, and still as hot as hell, is Luke Perry playing Archie’s dad.
Expect Riverdale on The CW in the Fall.
