The First Monday in May

The most hotly anticipated movie that all fashionistas everywhere are desperate to see is finally about to burst on to our screens.  ‘The First Monday in May’ is the story of The Met Gala one of THE most exciting social events in NY that that manages to bring together the most illustrious figures in fashion, film, art, and music.  Headed up by the fierce Vogue Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour and Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute curator Andrew Bolton who are trailed everywhere by filmmaker Andrew Rossi (who also directed Page One: Inside the New York Times).

The extravagant annual gala is also one of the toughest parties to organize, as a lot of work goes into putting together the accompanying exhibition, as well as creating an unforgettable fete. (Mastering the seating chart is a particularly difficult task.) and it all has to be carried out to the exacting detail of a very demanding Miss Wintour.

The new documentary  gives a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the ultra-exclusive and rather outrageous bash which makes for such compelling viewing, and makes feel that you are actually there even though you would probably not want to be caught dead wearing one of those music stars very indecent looking frocks. Or maybe you would.
