So many of us are just marking time or even laying low throughout the pandemic, but not veteran Hollywood photographer Michael Childers. Hot on the heels of the very successful Exhibit of his latest work at Melissa Morgan Gallery in Palm Springs: he participated in another Show that opened just last month.
In EMERGENCE : the inaugural exhibition at the new Joshua Tree Gallery of Contemporary Childers, alongside Gordon Clark. presented new works from each artist as well as works tht have adorned the walls of esteemed museums and galleries around the globe.
Childer is hardly a stranger to the camera as in his past he worked with Laurence Olivier at National Theater in London, before becoming a founding photographer for Andy Warhol’s Interview and After Dark magazines; and then produced Dance magazine covers featuring the Joffrey Ballet. From his LA studios, Michael photographed 200+ magazine covers including GQ, New York, TV Guide, Esquire, Los Angeles, Elle, Paris Match, Life, London Sunday Times Magazine, and English and Italian Vogue. He created 150+ album covers and film posters for major studios and worked as a photographer on many films. His new work is yet again another totally different direction for him.
Now the septuagenarian artist who shows no signs at all of slowing down, tells Queerguru that he has plans for a new Exhibition in 2022 called Distortion. It’s his erotic surrealism show of thirty images that he plans to show, which has yet to be announced. However, he gave Queerguru a sneak preview of three of the images to whet our appetite. Watch this space for details of the Show when they are announced …..
