We will admit that like so many in our queer community we do sometimes slip into the habit of using the word ‘icon’ way too freely, but yesterday on the streets of Provincetown we briefly ran into one who truly deserves the title. Our Editor may be dealing with all the unavoidable wear and tear that comes with aging, yet the iconic THIRSTY BURLINGTON who is dealing with major health issues looked positively radiant when we bumped into her on the way to the Town’s Tea Dance.
Looking nothing less than stunning in a sleek white trouser suit that Cher would have given a ransom for, she was really enjoying a respite from her constant hospital visits. Beaming like a naughty school girl and brimming with energy she was promoting her weekly show at the Crown and Anchor with such enthusiasm that it was, as usual, impossible not to be swept away.
Thirsty has been a star in this Town for ………well, lets just say more than a few years …… and despite all her symptoms she is working so energetically to ensure that Show really does go on. Sitting innocently in the audience listening to her belt out song after song, you have no inkling of what she has had to deal with just to get on the stage,
We are lucky to be able to call Thirsty a friend and although she would never want us to make any fuss, she does deserve our continued support for her stunning performances every Tuesday. And our love too..
