Queer filmmaker Joseph Wilson discovers BIUN in a Tokyo Bar

Last time he was in Tokyo, Wilson met BIUN and make this hauntingly beautiful film about her that he has recently just released.  After seeing her spellbinding performance we so wanted to know more about her and sowe immediately called him in Japan as we wanted to know more, and this is what he had translated from his limited interview with her.

“I haven’t actually  told my family about doing drag, but they know about it from Facebook, and we get along well.. In fact sometimes they come to see me perform, but we never really talk about it.

When I was little i was often bullied.   I have been singing since kindergarten and it has changed my life : it is what I live fo, and is my full time job.

I have had a partner for 13 years and he is very supportive of my performances.  It was he who persuaded me to move to Tokyo in the first place . I love the diversity of people in  city, and you are allowed to be yourself.

I am not ambitious to be  a famous singer , but it would be great if I could keep performing , and I want to live like this until I die.
