Richard Renaldi’s stunning photographs which so succinctly capture urbanite Manhattan club-goers as they make the trek home in the early hours of morning, are currently the focus of his one-man=show at one of New York’s leading art museums. The Chicago-born photographer now based in N.Y. told Gay Star News that he wanted to capture the juxtaposition between leaving the hedonism of the nightclub world and staggering out into the stillness of Manhattan on a Sunday morning.
The Exhibition of this compelling series of work which was shot between 2010 and 2016 is at the Eastman Museum Rochester, NY until 11 June. They are also published in a book also called Manhattan Sunday which can be ordered via renaldi.com In the book the openly gay Renaldi has written an essay on his motivation behind the project, and his own history on the club circuit which makes for a very fascinating read.
