The celebrated queer auteur filmmaker JOHN WATERS has been a fixture of the Provincetown summer residents for so many years now, that there is a rumor that he may have actually landed with the original pilgrims on the Mayflower. He is not hard to miss as he shoots through the town on his bike with the veracity of Margaret Hamilton.  Also, this Baltimore-born renaissance man gets involved and supports many of PTown’s numerous cultural activities

For the past 25 years, Waters has been showing his art at the Albert Merola Gallery here in town.  They have just launched his 6th one-person show entitled PROBE.  Originating as still photos that Waters took from videos from his TV screen in search of imagery, these “little movies” as he has called them have expanded into sculpture and performance and installations all the while maintaining their subversive and humorous observations of human nature and contemporary life.
