International Dublin Gay Festival with some of the best LGBTQ+ theatre talents from around the world.

The first two weeks of May is always the perfect time of year to be in Dublin, Ireland as that is when the International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival is on.  It was founded in 2004 in order to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Dublin-born Oscar Wilde in his native city and to encourage and develop concepts of gay theatre.

You may have missed the first week of the Fest and gems like About The Importance of Being Earnest as Performed by Three F*cking Queens and a Duck  by  Australia’s award-winning Out Cast Theatre, but there are some other fab treats coming up this week.

A gay Hispanic painter and a younger married restaurant owner develop a friendship as they search for an escape from their present circumstances. The two men are then forced to face the unexpected consequences of their wishes and desires.

Angel on Eros explores the friendship between two men of differing sexual orientation and offers a view into the transactional nature of human interplay. Framed inside the business of the arts, this play journeys into a world of human sexuality and self-discovery, as it probes into the erotic truth of a queer artist’s work.  Written by Ricardo Melendez

A chance encounter in the train station brings the author Philippe Besson to confront fragments of painful memories from a secret love story between two teenage boys in a small and conservative town in France in the 1980s. A poetic drama about life after abandonment, from the perspectives of three men who are connected to each other through tangled bonds of betrayal, regret, and perhaps love.

The performances will be in Hebrew with English subtitles.

Malachy has just turned 25, and he has a few things to say about that. Dealing with the death of his younger brother, he is struggling to come to terms with all that he is, and everything that he’s not.

Working as a customer support advisor in a call centre at a bin disposal company and experiencing many different escapades with his best friend Pauline, Malachy is eager to take some time to reflect and move on with his life. He quickly comes to realise, however, that it’s not as easy as it seems on paper.

A new play about growing up, and the lessons we learn along the way. Written/performed by Conor Burke

Toronto’s Johnnie Walker presents the international debut of his newest solo show: a deep-dive into the shocking world of Heterosexuality. THEY WALK AMONG US! But where did they come from? And what do they think they’re wearing?

To find out, Johnnie must go deep undercover and pose as one of their own!

Combining elements of storytelling, satire, and deep personal humiliation, ‘The Heterosexuals’ is here to spill the T on what The Queers really think about The Straights.

“Once upon a time in a kingdom far away, there lived a dashing prince who just happened to be gay. He tried dating Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White, but deep down in his heart, something didn’t feel quite right”.

Follow Prince Henry, the only gay in the Kingdom of Far Far Away, on his royal adventure to find true love… because if Disney won’t write a gay love story, we’ll just have to write it ourselves!

Written and performed by RICH WATKINS, this one-man musical parody featuring re-imagined fairy-tale classics such as “One Day My Prince Will Cum”, “High Ho”, “O, I’ve Just Come Out To The King” and “Let It Show”.
