NY photographer and director Gregory Kramer’s stunning new book DRAGS is a photo series documenting some of the city’s leading drag queens and drag kings. Kramer’s images of legends (and some future legends) are presented in the style of classic fashion portraiture in glamours black and white full length studio portraits.
Kramer said he was inspired by Irving Penn and each photograph brings out the spirit of the performer through subtle pose, gesture and facial expression. As well as allowing each of the drag stars author their own look, Kramer also had five of them pen an essay of a particular aspect of their community …… and our favorite has to be that of the extraordinary Charles Busch who writes about what it feels like to be in drag.
If you cannot make the Book Launch on September 7th at the Highline Ballroom ….. it is also a Benefit for the Ali Forney Center which helps homeless LGBTQ youth …… then you can preorder the Book from http://www.dragsbook.com/ and all good booksellers everywhere.
