UMA THURMAN GET ANOTHER AGENT, PLEASE.

As most of the movies I chose to watch are quite serious and some times heavy going, (the next movie on my viewing list is ‘Benda Billi’ : a doc about 5 African paraplegics who start up a Band), I do occasionally feel the need for a quick fix of some funny light relief.  This week I chose to watch two recent movies starring the usually wonderful Uma Thurman, which I now so regret.
The first was Ceremony which pitched a 5’7” short Michael Angarano as the love interest trying to stop amazonian 6’ tall Ms. Thurman marrying Whit (played by Lee Pace with an excruciating British accent).  Nothing works at all in this desperately annoying unfunny comedy despite Ms Thurman’s frenetic turn. Jesse Eisenberg must have the really read the script as he had the good sense to remove himself from this project.
So I turned to ‘The Accidental Husband’ which Ms Thurman starred in back in 2008.  She plays a successful radio love-doctor who, wait for it, is good at advising everyone else whilst at the same time makes a hash of her own personal life.  The plot starts off inane and then just gets more ridiculous as it goes on.  And exactly as in ‘Ceremony’ when Ms. Thurman is drowning in another bad movie her acting gets more demented and frenzied to the point where she is embarrassing to watch.  The presence of Colin Firth and Jeffrey Dean Morgan doesn’t help at all as they are mere acolytes in the proceedings.
I am not going to bother rating either of this movies, and the only reason they are listed here at all is that my Blog is much about ‘rants’ and well as ‘raves’, and I really haven’t ranted for some time. LOL
Life (and movies) is about the choices you make, and in my book, Ms Thurman made a real couple of bummers here.  I’ve seen ‘Kill Bill’ : I know she can do so much better.  Next good choice for her, would be to get another Agent.
