Today (March 20th) marks the start of the annual LESBIAN VISIBILITY WEEK. Founded by Linda Riley the publisher of DIVA magazine, and queer activist, to combat erasure, she also founded Rainbow Honours, British Diversity Awards, and European Diversity Awards. The event is to celebrate lesbians, queer women, and non-binary individuals while amplifying the need for health and well-being protection.
The theme for LVW 2026 is: Health and Wellbeing. For the past six years, LVW has supported the community through an unbelievably tough time, bringing vital attention to the experiences, perspectives and needs of those we represent. The aims remain clear: to build public understanding of LGBTQIA+ women and non-binary people’s lives, to increase lesbian visibility and to create a legacy that benefits our community everywhere.
LVW organisers suggest the ways to celebrate and support the week include :
Raise Awareness: Use social media to share stories and use the #LesbianVisibilityWeek and #LVW26 hashtags.
Flag Raising: Participate by raising the lesbian flag at homes, workplaces, or community centers.
Attend Events: Participate in virtual or local events, such as the Curve Foundation initiatives or local DIVA gatherings.
Support LGBTQ+ Women: Support Lesbian-owned businesses and creators.

OR if you want to be more proactive, they have created a Community Toolkit to help you get started. Inside you’ll find ideas, resources and simple ways to organise an event, bring people together or amplify the message wherever you are. Your event can be big or small. What matters is showing up and making space for LGBTQIA+ women and non-binary people to be seen, heard and celebrated
