POLO : known as ‘the Sport of Kings’ is just starting to be adopted by (dare we say..) Queens

Sometimes it’s hard to keep up with all the special named days/weeks etc.   As we come to the end of LESBIAN VISIBILITY WEEK, a note from the Gay Polo League (the ONLY one in the World) that tells us they are celebrating The Year Of The Horse.  It’s part of the Chinese Zodiac, which is seemingly relevant to this group of gay men and women in Fort Lauderdale who love to play the favourite sport of the British Royal Family, which is often called ‘the sport of Kings‘ (and now Queens?)

The Gay Polo League (GPL) is committed to providing its members with unique, supportive, and competitive experiences around the globe. They’re a community that shares a love for adventure, fun, and the beautiful, challenging sport of polo.    They explained to QUEERGURU, We have a joie-de-vivre, a lighthearted enjoyment of our sport and community – yet we’re dead serious when it comes to competition and making a difference! We strongly advocate and advance the value of diversity and inclusion in every event we produce.”

This weekend, April 23rd – 25th, sees their Annual Gay Polo Tournament, and who knows if you are very good (!), they may even let you pay with their chukker!!
