Queerguru catches up with filmmaker CARMEN EMMI to talk about PLAINCLOTHES one of the best queer movies of 2025

Queer writer/director CARMEN EMMI has started his filmmaking career on a real high. Not only did he get his debut movie PLAINCLOTHES accepted into the prestigious Sundance Film Festival but he also walked away with the US Dramatic Special Jury Award. Emmi cast two of the very best young Brit actors Russell Tovey and Tom Blyth as the leads in his American made story about this very dark period in queer history : they are part of the reason the movie has been wowing audiences around the globe

Queerguru caught up with Carmen when he was in London for a screening at the new SXSW Satellite Festival, and then was just about to catch a plane (and ferry) for the film’s next screening at the Provincetown International Film Fest

PS The movie will be screening in SF Frameline Film Fest as well
