WNBR London is back with thousands of naked cyclists hitting the streets to protest and celebrate body freedom

When Queerguru was based in London, like the rest of the world,  we were always concerned with global warming. But the English in general seemed to have a different take on climate control .i.e.  the weather rarely got warm.  Let alone hot.

So it comes as a big shock to us that despite the unwelcome weather, the Brits are determined to mount yet another Naked Bike Ride. The organizers of  London’s WNBR claim that last year the event was on a ‘hot, sunny day’ so they are hoping this year for second time lucky.

The ride takes you through the heart of the city, and in the picture at the top of the page you can see them heading for Buckingham Palace.  Rumour is that the curtains were twitching but alrhough the King may not want to see so much naked flesh, he would at least approve of  their mission:-

  • protest against the global dependency on oil
  • curb car culture
  • obtain real rights for cyclists
  • demonstrate the vulnerability of cyclists on city streets
  • celebrate body freedom

There is always a  large turnout of riders and big crowds. Last year they expected 1,000 riders but ite ended being far more massive than that!
