The CEO of PINK NEWS UK calls the transgender community ‘contentious’ and supporting them will lose him advertisers

If its not bad enough for us in the LGBTQA+ community to have keep the struggle going for full equal rights, its actually nothing less than despicable when people/corporations that exsist because of us, then start to cherry pick which parts of the queer community they will support, and which they will not.

The  print edition of the UK PINK NEWS survived one year and  then became an online-only publication when the print edition was dropped in 2007.  The editorial stance of PinkNews is not to campaign in a partisan manner, although it does interview politicians and has a pro-LGBTQ+ stance. PinkNews does not endorse political parties in elections, but in previous elections has endorsed individual politicians regardless of party “based on their stance on gay rights issues”.

By 2021 It had an operating profit of £2million.

In 2010 PINK NEWS heavily criticized STONEWALL UK for refusing to take a positive stance of gay marriage which they eventually did in 2010.  But it also regularly reported  criticism of Stonewall for its refusal to campaign on transgender issues, a matter that didn’t  get rectified util 2014 .

However in a case of pure hypocrisy it seems that PINK NEWS is dropping its support now for the transgender community for the simple reason they  claim it will lose them money .  Hard to believe?  We thought so to until we were sent a copy of a leaked  video of Pink News’ CEO Benjamin Cohen  signaling his intent to abandon the trans community , who he called contentious, to instead focus on being an “entertainment powerhouse”.

Here he is captured stating “We have to be careful.” “It’s the role of others to change narratives”, going on to further say that covering transgender issues will cause them to lose advertisers.
