THE ARZNER is London’s only Cinema dedicated to playing only LGBTQ+ Films .

Its hard for us to believe that in this day and age, London does not have a cinema dedicated to screening LGBTQ+ films.  That is until now, and earlier this year, The Arzner opened, and in just a few months, has made a significant impact with a schedule of films that have never been able to reach the audience they deserve. Over the past decade in particular, queer cinema has rapidly grown, and our own team of reviewers who cover a plethora of  LGBTQA+ Film Festivals around the globe, always note that so many great queer films never ever get the  theatrical release  they deserve

Piers Greenlees and Simon Burke the co-founders and owners of The Arzner, told Queerguru that they plan to  offer a mix of cult classics, indie favourites, and festival hits which are all about, by, or related to the LGBTQ+ community.  Now we will be able to go and watch queer cinema any night of the week.

More kudos to Greenless and Burke for choosing to name the cinema after one of Hollywood’s few known lesbian filmmakers, and they told Queerguru it was because they wanted to be there for the whole spectrum of the community, and not just gay men. In fact, this week sees a special celebration of Trans+ Pride with trans and trans-coded films programmed from Monday 21st to Sunday 27th July.

P.S. The Cinema can only survive/prosper if WE support it by visiting it as often as we can and also by inviting friends to join us.  And whlst you are in Bermondsey you could also support the Rising, a queer-focused pub also in Bermondsey which opened in April last year,  and is also owned by Greenless and Burke
