As you read this post, you may be under the false impression that it is 2026. Technically it is , but if you are any part of the LGBTQA+ community and are reading this on FB or any other social media, then be aware: they are run by homophobic bots who would like to turn the clock back 50 years or simply destroy us completely.

Please don’t think this is far-fetched or paranoia on our part, but looking back at the 11 years since QUEERGURU first started, there’s a marked difference between what we could post then and what we can post now.  A couple of years ago, our YouTube channel was taken down overnight, and sadly we lost some one-on-one interviews that we stupidly hadn’t backed up. 

Since then, FB has been the bane of our lives, and if it wasn’t for the fact that over the years we have established some 69K followers, we would have conceded and given up posting there altogether.  They now restrict who can access our page, refuse to share our posts with anyone new, and keep sending us threats or disbarment notices.

THE WORST PART OF ALL THIS IS WE HAVE ACTUALLY STARTED SELF-CENSORING  OUR FB POSTS: it feels like we have been forced back into the Closet all over again……

Please do not think this is paranoia; we speak with other queer sites all the time and sadly have discovered that we are not the sole victims of FB’s despicable behavior: it’s 2026, and if we cannot show as much as a naked ankle, then it’s time for us to move on.
