We love the fact that when Channing Tatum was growing up he was full of energy and somewhat troublesome, so his parents decided to enroll him in different sports such as track and field, baseball, soccer, and football to keep him out of trouble. In fact, he was recruited and earned a full athletic college scholarship to a school in West Virginia.
This has stood him in good stead for when, in 2012, after appearing in some 20 films, he made his first Magic Mike movie, where he taught a newbie male stripper how to let people slip dollar bills into their dms. There was both a lot of dollar bills and bare flesh and the movie may not have been a critical success but did well enough at the box office that it gave birth to Magic Mike XXL in 2015, and Magic Mike’s Last Dance in 2023.That may well have been Mike’s last dance in the movies BUT the stripping is far from over off-screen. Some 8 years ago Channing Tatum created and directed MAGIC MIKE LIVE residences in Las Vegas and London, and he is now is planning to arrive with the Show in New York City in the Fall in a newly renovated space in the Midtown Theater District. Tatum said about this “You are going to see naked men dancing. That’s just what’s going to happen, and hopefully they’ll be on top of you at some point. But there’s also so much more that’s embedded into the show”
Tatum has won some 23 Awards and 63 Nominations in his very successful career, but the Magic Mike series has contributed one to this list: 2024 Nominee Razzie Award for Worst Screen Couple (which he shared with Salma Hayek)
