Singer/songwriter LAUV celebrates his new found queerness with POTENTIAL his first song about being in love with a boy

Ari Staprans Leff  aka LAUV is  the 30-year-old  American singer/songwriter who just last year decided to identify as LGBTQ+ .  At the time in an interview  with Out he clarified regarding his sexuality that “I don’t really have any particular answers yet, other than it’s something that I’m exploring in my music and exploring in my mind, and I’m going to be exploring in my life.

“Oh damn, I think we got potential / I call it how I see it, and I see it in my mental / Like damn, I know we could be special / I’ll sell you on the vision, but this heart is not for rental,” he sings on the chorus. “Like damn, don’t mean no disrespectful / I know you’re with somebody, but your body shouldn’t settle.”

And in a new statement, Lauv said the track is “about realizing you have feelings for someone and dreaming about the potential of what it could be,” and is the start of his “next, most authentic chapter”.  The accompanying music video, directed by Luke Orlando, follows Lauv as he explores his emotions via intricate choreography, while a squad of dancers guide him to his love interest.
