Shine a Light On It: Black Women, HIV & Its Impact

For many people, World AIDS Day is just one day in their calendar: they still have another 364 days to deal with it before it comes around again. So Queerguru welcomes any projects that are there for the duration.  Such as Shine a Light On It: Black Women, HIV & Its Impact” which is being launched today which is a mixed-media exhibit of photography and video/audio storytelling to humanize and destigmatize HIV for Black women.

Anna Deshawn, a social entrepreneur, storyteller & community organizer. told  Queerguru ” When I learned Black women account for 50% of new diagnosis I knew I had to do something. I knew I had to use my gifts to amplify this information and educate my community about PReP, PEP, and U=U. The women sharing their stories for this exhibit encapsulate this phrase, “I’m living with HIV, but HIV doesn’t have me”.
