Pioneer Winter is a man with a purpose and a real passion for creating his projects. This Miami-based choreographer is the artistic director of Pioneer Winter Collective, an intergenerational and physically integrated dance-theater company, rooted in social practice and community, queer visibility, and beauty beyond the mainstream.

He has such an infectious enthusiasm that has propelled him to be a major force in Miami’s creative Wynwood district. He’s an artist who always achieves his ambitious plans for making diversity a reality. and also still finds the energy to support projects such as Recovery in Motion that so greatly benefit many people in need.

Queerguru caught up with Pioneer the day before Miami was celebrating the 2nd Official Pioneer Winter Day (as named by the City Council)
