Naked Boys Reading is an intimate literary salon featuring in-the-buff readings which was created by Dr Justin Hunt and Alexander Karotsch in London in 2012. NBR was inspired by the international hit Naked Girls Reading. From its humble beginnings in London’s sweatiest basement club to residencies across the UK, NBR began touring the world and remains a favourite with lovers of well-endowed libraries.
They have written to tell us they’re on Wednesday 2nd September they are returning to Chats Palace for a very special evening with 6 gorgeous readers, lovingly curated by the Four Quartets Prize winning poet Dante Micheaux (@amorousshepherd ).
The little-known gay African-American poet Alfred Celestine (1949-2009) left behind a small body of work that is profound in its insights on race and gender in the human emotional field. His poems reveal an interior life of complexity and dream, that looks into a singular identity’s deep history. Black and homosexual, like several great artists, Celestine is a Queer literary beacon for today’s reader. And what could be more Queer than a bevy of exquisites reading selections from his work. Join us to celebrate this great ancestor with “the old light in his eyes”!
