Maybe it’s something in the water …or whisky?

2-Kezia-Dugdale-GettyScotland would qualify for another entry in the Guinness Book of Records if they actually covered LGBT events, as they are the very first country in the world where the Leaders of the four main political parties are now openly gay.  Scottish Labour Party leader Kezia Dugdale is the latest one to publicly ‘come out’ in a interview with The Fabian Society.  As well as being a strong supporter of same-sex marriage when it passed in Scotland, Dugdale has also voiced her support for civil partnerships to be extended to opposite-sex couples.

She joins Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson, Scottish Green Party leader Patrick Harvie and UKIP Scotland leader David Coburn all previously came out as LGB.

Scottish MP’s also sit the UK’s House of Parliament which now boasts the highest number of open LGB parliamentarians than anywhere else in the world i.e 32 out of a total of 650.  Their numbers have still yet to include a Transgender member as none of the 4 candidates that stood at the 29015 Election managed to win seats.

Incidentally a few days ago Scottish National Party leader Nicola Sturgeon, who is the First Minister of Scotland (and straight!),  set out her LGBT rights priorities ahead of the coming Scottish elections – promising a radical review and reform gender recognition law for all Trans people to ensure it is line with international best practice.
