When we met filmmaker and activist RIVER GALLO at the Provincetown Film Festival, he was just picking up his 2nd NEW WAVE AWARD (the first one was from GLAAD) after screening his groundbreaking film PONYBOI, which Gallo had written, produced, and starred in.

The thoroughly entertaining film is making such a significant contribution to the genre of queer cinema,. It’s the first ever written by and starring an out intersex person, River Gallo, and it tells a raw and riveting story of identity, survival, and chosen family.  PONYBOI, which has already won Best U.S. Narrative Feature at NewFest has surely set the standard for future films that hopefully follow. They, however, will need the passion and talent of a River Gallo to succeed…. and of course, their disarming charm…..
