Queerquru first met Sasha Waters in Provincetown, where we live every summer. The town is the oldest art colony in the US and has a history of being home to some of the country’s finest artists and writers .
One such resident was Pulitzer Prize winner Mary Oliver, who in 2007 was named the best-selling poet in the US, and Sasha Waters’ new film takes us on an incredible journey of her life, and is a love story to both Mary and Provincetown itself . Waters has included a veritable who’s who of famous faces to bear witness and talk about their connections with Mary, but it is her poetry itself that is the real star of the piece
Mary Oliver: Saved by the Beauty of the World is screening next at Provincetown International Film Festival, followed by Frameline San Francisco LGBTQ Film Festival. On July 3rd, it will open at the iFC in NY, and then on August 25th will be broadcast on PBS American Master Series
