We first met filmmaker Matthew Puccini back in 2019, just after his third short film, Lavender, had premiered at Sundance and had won the Vimeo Award for Best US Short Fiction.
Now he was back at Provincetown International Film Festival with his latest movie, CALLBACK, the compelling tale of a couple of gay actors dealing with the latest news that one of them had gotten a call back for a job and the other hadn’t.
The movie has already won awards at other festivals and so is now qualified to be automatically long-listed for an Academy Award. In fact, word reached Matthew after our interview that the film had also picked up a PTown Festival Audience Favorite Award. There seems to be no stopping this ultra-talented young filmmaker who is now back home sorting out a new outfit to wear. ……. just in case he gets a call from his potential new friend Oscar
