Filmmaker LINUS O’BRIEN was 4 years old when he first saw a Midnight Show of the cult 1970s movie THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW. The reason was that it was created and written by his father, RICHARD O’BRIEN who had witnessed the stage play and movie initially fail at the Box Office before the late-night crowd adopted having phenomenal midnight shows where the audience just didn’t dress up in costume but sang along with the movie too. It particularly resonated with LGBTQ communities because of its themes and messages that were so ahead of their time.
Now Linus has used his ‘connection’ to tell the fascinating story of how it all happened, and his new documentary will delight both the people who lived through this all, and those who have yet to experience this joyful adventure. He talked with Queerguru after Strange Journey: The Story of Rocky Horror had a rapturous reception at the Provincetown Film Festival
