Queerguru caught up with the award-winning queer Mexican filmmaker SERGIO TOYAR VELARDE on the eve of the World Premiere of his latest film THE DIVINE TRAGEDY to be held at Wicked Queer Boston’s LGBTQA+ Film Festival. It’s been some 12 years since we last met, Sergio, when he had released his movie Four Moons (see HERE)
It’s an intriguing dramedy about two opposite gay half-brothers who end up living together after life throws an unexpected curve. Sergio’s compelling story explores the twists and turns of different contemporary queer relationships without shying away from any of the intimacy. That part alone makes for such a refreshing change from most queer films these days, which have the annoying habit of self-censorship .
After opening at Wicked Queer, the film will be screened at Miami’s OUTshine Film Festival. Keep checking back as we will be following to see where it will play after that.
