Queerguru is always constantly amazed about the sheer quality and quantity of queer theatre that is on in London at any given time. It surely out ranks any other capital city around the globe (yes, including you New York) with its theatrical delights which our own small band of reviewers struggle to keep pace with.
For example this week (If we were in London) we would be making tracks to the Kings Head Theatre in Islington for Joe Eason‘s powerful drama TWO COME HOME which explores the realities of being gay in an impoverished rural community and the ways guilt, rage, and love define our relationships.
Its now a decade after a dramatic split, and the star-crossed lovers reunite at the worst time. It’s a story of regret and second chances and covers a legion of themes from poverty, addiction, generational trauma and repressed love – but at its core, it’s a salute to the bravery needed to connect with others and break free from solitude.
Directed by Kirsten Obank Sharpe and starring Joe Eason (the writer) and Ben Maytham PLUS this production boasts a queer team both on and off stage.
King's Head Theatre 14 - 18 August.
