The only reason that Duathlon athlete Chris Mosier is not competing in the Rio right now is the fact that this grueling endurance sport which involves biking and running is not a recognized Olympic event. The fact that he is a transgender male would not be an issue as new rules issued by the International Olympic Committee this year removed all surgical requirements for trans people to compete in events concordant with their gender identity.
Earlier this summer Mosier was the first out transgender person to be be named to Team USA, and he represented the U.S. at the Duathlon World Championships in Spain. Now sportswear giant Nike have recognized his prowess and his determination to succeed by featuring him in a brand new advert titled “Ultimate Courage”.
