When VP Kamala Harris came to Provincetown on a fundraising trip last month, this fiercely Democratic stronghold renamed the place VPTOWN, we are so proud of the fact that when the VP left the town that day we had donated $2 million to her campaign. We have something of a tradition of welcoming and supporting presidential candidates who traveled to our wee town at the tip of Cape Cod : Obama, The Bidens, Hilary Clinton who came accompanied by Cher.
We have never taken our fiercely won Equal Rights for granted and we take our politics very seriously . Although we do insist on adding some much needed queer humor into our campaigning . Hence these much prized T shirts that have turned up in town this week.
The have bought all the naysayers out critiquing our taste of these Ts (as if) in a campaign that features one candidate who is a philandering rapist, convicted felon, compulsive liar with no real regard for any single community , gay or straight . When the nightly news of CNN is so worrying that it sends ouf blood pressure to dangerous levels, then it a sheer relief to be able to inject some sense of humor into these other wise frightening times.
