Since the outside world started noticing how powerful the pink dollar can be there has been an indecent rush by the commercial world to grab their share. Its an issue that has always concerned Queerguru and so we really appreciate GLAAD’s Annual List of the best queer friendly companies which helps us decide where to shop .
In the past few years GLAAD have gone one stage further and now they get corporations signing a statement of support for LGBTQ people. Its working as their research shows that “Americans are nearly twice as likely to say they would want to back companies facing criticism for supporting people in the LGBTQ community, rather than their critics”
Some recently experienced criticisms from anti-LGBTQ activists, but they refused to stand down. These are the ones we personally want to support. Then there are companies who go even further and make concerted efforts to not only support our community but actually make a point of assuring queer youth that it is more than OK to be gay. We can’t imagine how reassuring this must be, plus the message of acceptance it sends the world at large.
This one by KODAK from 2016 does that and more ,…..and we will confess that the first time we viewed it our eyes did swell up . It actually won . The Washington Reader award for “Best Motion Ad of the Year”.
