What About Me? is a wee, compelling queer dark comic web series streaming FREE on YouTube

What About Me is a wee, compelling queer web series, created by actor/writer Josh Nadler and his real-life boyfriend Sam Wasserman, who is the Executive Producer.  It has such an air of authenticity, as Nadler based it on the unexpected death of his own brother, which made him realise how alike they really had been.  He told us that  “That’s what this show is about: the strange, funny, and sometimes beautiful ways grief reshapes us.”

“What About Me?” follows Josh (played by Nadler), a bakery supervisor—and the lesser-known twin brother of Jake, a wildly successful Hollywood actor. When Jake dies suddenly, Josh is forced to confront his grief, his identity, and a family that never quite understood him.  This may sound odd on paper, but it starts with a hilariously funny scene at Jake’s memorial service in the synagogue where tt gives the impression that Josh is the oddball in his family, but we soon discover that his sister and mother have their quirks/issues too ….

From making a scene at the memorial to escaping into hookup apps that he is obsessed with, Josh’s journey through the five stages of grief is at once laugh-out-loud funny and deeply moving.

Very effectivly the show blends raw vulnerability with biting Hollywood satire. Think Transparent meets The Other Two, with a Queer heart and a comedic twist.  It’s refreshing to see the series is both a very relevent celebration of LGBTQ identity and an honest look at the ways we process loss, family dysfunction, addiction, and personal reinvention.

“What About Me” is screening FREE on YouTube.
