There was a time not long ago when ‘vintage clothing’ or ‘thrifty’ shops were the domain of idiocentric dressers who went to great lengths to create their own style and wouldn’t be seen dead in a Mall. Many years ago regularly spotted amongst the Londoners seeking out some ‘eccentric’ clothing items from these shops was none other than Jean Paul Gaultier. And if pay attention to some of his earlier collections, you can see how he was influenced by some of the vintage pieces he had picked up .
Fast forward to 2024 and although vintage clothing may still not be mainstream it is much more accessible to far more people. That’s thanks to the likes of BEYOND RETRO who have become largest vintage retailer in the UK, Sweden and most recently, Finland. The appeal is not just for their handpicked vintage clothing that is so much on trend these days, but also they now appeals to a vast majority of people who are concerned about the worlds hefty carbon footprint. What better reason than to style you own look/fashion whilst helping to save the Earth at the same time?
Now BEYOND RETRO have opened countless new stores across the UK, Sweden and Finland BUT do not panic if you do not live in those countries as they have a website where you can shop online. At the moment its starring THE must have vital item for Christmas Day. If you have wondered what ever happened to that cheesy Xmas sweater you insisted your father/husband/boyfriend wear on the 25th but was never seen again afterwards, well they all ended up in Beyond Retro. Some are so BAD that they are actually good, and anyway they are cheap enough not to have to cut back on all that drinking you are planning to make fractious relatives appear less annoying. BUT one word of caution if your humorless BF is thinking of dumping you , then this may just push him over the edge.
