British born actor Jack O’Connell who identifies more with his Irish heritage, has been wowing audiences ever since his film debut as a teenaged skinhead, in the coming-of-age drama This Is England in 2006. He has this remarkable propensity for playing tough troubled young men, first in Skins, and then in his breakthrough starring role in Starred Up.
Angelina Jolie had the good sense to cast O’Connell as the war hero Louis Zamperini in his first major Hollywood picture, Unbroken for which he received the BAFTA Rising Star Award.
Now aged 27, this year he tackled the role of the closeted Brick in Tennessee William’s classic Cat On A Hot Tin Roof stunning audiences in London’s West End with his critically acclaimed performance that starts with him being completely naked on stage .
The run has finished BUT the good news is that a live recording on the play is being broadcast in movie theaters across the globe February 22, 2018. Mark that one in your diary, as you will not want t miss him.
