There Are (STILL) Things To Do : the live and times of outspoken queer activist URVASHI VAID

Outspoken immigrant, lesbian, and woman of color, Urvashi Vaid, was a leader who helped shape the modern-day gay rights movement. She was an expert in gender and sexuality law and was the first woman of color to lead a national gay-and-lesbian organization. This film presents Vaid’s life in Provincetown, including her 34-year relationship with her partner Kate Clinton, before Vaid died in 2022.

THERE ARE THINGS TO DO  not only celebrates her life but also makes us very aware of how much she actually achieved to benefit our community.  What particularly shines through from the very first frame is Vaid’s extraordinary sheer unselfishness …… and her joyous relationship with her wife and partner Kate Clinton.

Our debt to her is immense and probably unrepayable, but I do think we owe her, in the very least, stepping up  our own efforts to help make this community a better place for all of us.  I cannot see myself disrupting Press Conference in the White House (!) but I think Vaid’s legacy is that we all need to stand up and be counted from now on.

On June 9th, at 1PM Wicked Queer, Bostons LGBTQ+ Film Fest  has programmed There Are Things to Do from directors Mike Syers & Fermin Roja at Massachusetts State House.,  Fermin Roja will be in attendance.

This is a must-see film for anyone who loves PTown and Urvashi Vaid

PS If you cannot attend this event, the short will still be streaming from GBH on June 1st.
